Cable Avoidance Tool & Generator Course

Course Details:

The aim of this course is to provide each candidate with the knowledge needed to operate a Basic Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) along safely and correctly with a Signal Generator (Genny) when tracing underground services. The course consists of theoretical and practical training involving hands-on use of the actual locators to detect and trace the route of buried services.

Course Aims:

To provide candidates with underpinning knowledge of how to use a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and Signal Generator (Genny) to aid in the location of underground services and utilities.

Course Content:

  • Underground Services - Identification Methods
  • Regulations and Guidance
  • Identification of types and limitations of Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators
  • Inspecting, calibration and testing of equipment
  • The methods of safe use of pipe and cable location equipment, along with basic locating techniques
  • Practical session

Assessment:

Theory & practical assessments.

Certification:

Learners will receive a certificate of attendance.
